Sacraments

Baptism

Holy Baptism is the sacrament of new birth in Christ and makes one a member of the Body of Christ, the Church. A person may be baptized at any age. Certain Sundays are especially appropriate for baptism: The Sunday of the Baptism of our Lord, the Easter Vigil, Pentecost, and the Sunday of All Saints. Other Sundays and feast days are also possible times for baptism. If you are interested in baptism, please contact the church office (517 263 1162)

Confirmation

The sacrament of Confirmation involves a mature reaffirmation of our baptismal covenant with the laying on of hands by the Bishop. All who have not been confirmed are encouraged to make this commitment. Instruction and preparation are provided by the clergy. Weddings

Christ Church Adrian is delighted to make the church available for weddings. The church is a holy and happy place from which to begin a marriage and an excellent place to nurture a life together. Christian marriage is a solemn, life long, public covenant in the presence of God. The Episcopal Church requires that at least one of the parties be baptized. The wedding must be attested by two witnesses and the marriage conform to the canon law of the Episcopal Church and the laws of the State of Michigan. We ask that the couple meet with the officiating clergy for several sessions of premarital counseling. Please call the church to make arrangements (517 263 1162).

Funerals

Please notify the parish office of the death of a member of the church (517 263 1162). We are always ready to be of pastoral assistance in times of grief. Members of the church are normally buried from the church. Arrangements for the funeral are made in consultation with the Rector or officiating clergy. Church Parish Hall can be used for receptions following the funeral service for those families who desire it.
